In some of the cities (not all), inside the "Trade" building, you can buy Building Materials.

Once you set up an outpost, make sure that you build a Stone Quarry and Stone Processor before you run out of building materials, because having those two will allow you to make your own materials on site.

Because walls have been temporarily removed from the game (and even when they're back it'll still take time to build them), make sure that you're ready for a zerg rush of bandits about 4-8 strong. They WILL patrol across your outpost location, and even after you wipe them out I'm pretty sure they eventually respawn. Therefore your second priority should be to set up research and make some beds for when your guys inevitably get incapacitated.

I'm having a problem with the trainer, I downloaded and installed v0.40.4 from the developers website to a non-default install path. When I run the trainer, and then the game, the trainer can't seem to see that the game is running. Does the trainer only work with the steam version or expects the game to be in the steam common files folder?

It's probably because the retail version has a differently named executable. The steam executable is running as: kenshi_steam.exe

i have a problem with the "editor" - its not changing stats of my toon

Have you followed the instruction? Does the editor display a value? Have you clicked on the green mark next to the field you edited to apply changes?

you mean i can make your trainer work with the Desura version?
