Game: Tomb Raider Survival(2013)
Why: Before Tomb Raider 2013 came out I were very fond of Assassin's creed, and before that Tomb Raider Underworld
Rules: Only post if you wanna post a game, do not post otherwise.

World War 3: Black Gold
Age of Empires 1 and 2
Empire Earth 1 and 2
Command & Conquer series (except C&C4 and probably later)
Age of Mythology
Sudden Strike series (except SS3)
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 1 and 2 series
Company of Heroes series
Call of Duty series (up to MW2)
Battlefield series (BF 2142 all time favorite BF because it's Sci-Fi)
Red Faction 1 and 2
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Serious Sam series
Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2
The Elder Scrolls (Morrowind and later)
Dragon Age: Origins
GTA series (from first to last)
Star Wars The Old Republic
Star Trek Online
World of Tanks US (Because EU is filled with morons)
That's pretty much it. One cannot simply have only one favorite game.
Thus far I have not enjoyed StarCraft 2 anywhere as close as I had Brood War.
When I read your "Why:" I felt like I was having a question answered with another question for some reason, also, where did you get the Survival in the Tomb Raider title from?
Tomb Raider (2013)
Why: By far one of the best looking games I have seen, smooth as silk gameplay for the most part.
Why: My kind of game.
Total War series
Crusader Kings series
As for an absolute favorite, can't say for sure, I'm guessing Rome: Total War.
Favourite of all time probably Defender of the crown on C64
Deadspace is up there too
Some of my other favorites include all the Final Fantasy Tactics Games, FFX, Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, most the Pokemon games and the new Fire Emblem game for the 3ds.
This game is epic, there is so much to do in the game and the fun never ends for me. I would write a long review of this game if I say more things about it, but there is hardly anything that I don't like about this game.
Mass Effect 2
Another great game! Superb characterization, decisions you make are crucial and the plot is thrilling as well. The game simply blew me away.
Dragon Age: Origins
Great scale, BioWare does a masterful job for yet another RPG. Loved the story and characters.
Same reason why I loved Dragon Age: Origins, but what I really loved about the game was the setting and the main character.
Oblivion with guns in a post-apocalyptic setting. Nuff said.
Far Cry 3
UbiSoft fixed everything that was wrong with Far Cry 2. The environments were breath-taking, the gameplay wasn't boring and the plot carried weight, much more weight.
GTA III onwards (Except Liberty City/Vice City Stories)
GTA Vice City always makes me feel nostalgic. I spent a huge portion of my childhood in the game. The other games proved to be worthy titles of the series. I can never say no to a replay.
Assassin's Creed II
Ezio Auditore remains as one of my favorite game characters of all time. And UbiSoft couldn't do a better job on introducing him to the franchise.
Great game. A stellar combination of CSI and GTA. Characterization was impeccable and the story was captivating.
Yet another game that proves me I am a Rockstar fanboy. The game is just like GTA, but in school times. The mere mention of this game makes me want to connect my PS2 to the TV and play this game again.
