I'm not sure how to do that. When I have tried to abandon a city and it is part of a shared region nothing happens as far as I can tell and it still is counted among my cities for that server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It took about 20 minutes for a region/city that I had (that I was the only one in) to register as "gone" just a little bit ago. I've had friends where it has taken much longer then that.
They are still having some serious backend problems, but outside of that you just have to give it time. Make sure to not go back into that region/city and it'll eventually get deleted.

just wait to full sync the game cause sometimes even if you try to abandon the game it looks like still there but it's already been abandon.
