Every person deals with bullying differently. If you didn't deal well with bullying as a kid, you can't really blame yourself because... well, you were a kid. You know, it sucks that it has to be so life-altering to some people. I was never popular at school, but nobody was really bullied. Sure, people said hurtful stuff, but never to the point where anyone should have been truly depressed by it. If anyone thinks it has clearly affected them, the best they can do is share the word and especially let it be known to children that bullying isn't alright. As a child, it can shape who you are and how you turn out if you don't take it well.
As an adult, being bullied presents a whole new plethora of options. As a kid, it was really either take it, tattle, or shut down. As an adult, the biggest new option is to change it. If a boss bullies you, get a new job. If a significant other bullies you, get a new significant other. You used to be stuck with what you had as a child. Now you can be free.
