For me I don't think Unlimited Ammo was an issue. It was a while before I had noticed I didn't even use the Unlimited Ammo button. I just never pressed the button, but I did use the No Reload and Unlimited Grenades options, and I never ran out of ammo. I don't mean I kept finding more ammo, but my guns never used any ammo from their clips. Occasionally I would swap weapons and the clip was half full (or half empty if you're a pessimist) and I would hit "R" to reload the clip and that was it... but I never needed the Unlimited Ammo option. The half full clips were because those specific weapons had extended clips as attachments. Once reloaded, they never needed reloading again unless I swapped them out at the vendor and back again later.
However, I did use the Unlimited Ammo near the end of the game out of curiosity and saw no difference in anything except I never saw a half full clip again. I don't think my computer or game is special in any way, I have the Steam version, file integrity checked, hard drive is defragmented and optimized and everything seems to be in working order.

I figured out my problem, I have nearly invisible button (Dark Blue on Black) called FLock on my keyboard (FMode on my mother's keyboard and Fn on my step father's laptop).Seems to work fine now.
strange. just bought (finally!) deluxe edition via steam. installed, and it just keeps crashing to desktop whenever i activate any trainer options. trainer version of course matches game version.
update: game crashing not right after trainer option activation, but in some short time, like a minute or so. could it be a PunkBuster trigger of some kind?
