Ok, got home from a business trip and decided to upgrade to windows 8. Reinstalled Xcom, the trainer and the editor... but the trainer and cheat do not work. Both report finding the game, and in game I hear the all to familiar "Activated" after hitting F1.
After tinkering with permissions and compatibility I am no better off.
I did notice though that there was a patch released for XCom on 11/1.
So, anyone with suggestions? Is it because the trainer and editor are for 1.0.0.11052 Version of Xcom?
disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software. right click run as admin on trainer. game has not patched and current trainer is working fine.

Thanks... Hadn't installed AV yet... but forgot Win8 has Windows Defender on by default. Disabling that fixed it. Also installed Kaspersky and it works fine with that.
