I have tried this with multiple trainers but the results are the same.

After completing a game to the credits and then exiting the game (with both the trainer and editor working), then the next day when starting a new game, hitting F1 at main menu the trainer causes a crash to the desktop. The editor works fine at all times.

I have tried everything, cleared the IE/Temp cache, redownloaded trainers (and placed in executable directory), turned my A/Virus off (using E-Set), ran everything as administrator... verified cache in steam.. everything and it still won't work.

The editor does work great though. Last time I was so fed up that I quit playing for a while, and during that time the Slingshot DLC was released and I bought it. After installed in Steam and updating the trainer, I continued my old game, trainer worked fine at Main Menu. After that game was complete, and I started a new one to see the DLC, the trainer caused a crash at the start of the game. This also happened on the 1st patch of the game (and trainer).

I don't know if something is related to the save or what, but it's very frustrating to say the least!

If anyone knows anything I've missed or has suggestions, please I'm open to more troubleshooting.


Update: Ok found a solution. I had to go into Users/name?/appdata/temp and delete the ch.dll files for both the editor and trainer (along with the rest of the temp trash), and then upon game and trainer restart everything worked great. When the game crashed after 2-3 hours, I had to repeat this process... annoying yes, but it does work to keep the game from crashing. Also I had no issues with any of the trainer functions or editor functions.

1.) Uninstall the entire game via the Steam GUI
2.) Reinstall the game - latest patches will be installed automatically
3.) Run latest trainer
4.) Press "F1" in the main menu
5.) Enter the Barracks section and LET THE GAME CRASH
6.) Make sure the game task has ended (Task Manager)
7.) Close trainer
8.) Start trainer
9.) Start game
10.) Do whatever you want

Worked perfectly for me.

and rest dont work??

but editor works...so i wonder what i made worng

1. Load game without the trainer.
2. Go to the barracks, swap out something in a couple of soldier's loadouts (armor, guns whatever). Something that will make the save game have something new to save. You can swap back before missions so no worries.
3. Save Game, doesn't have to be a new slot.
4. Exit to Main Menu
5. Load the game you just saved.
6. Looking at your Base, ALT-TAB out to Desktop. Now fire up the Trainer.
7. Back in game, looking at your base, hit F1, you'll hear 'Trainer Activated'.
8. Trainer worked fine for me for here on thru. Took some tinkering to figure this out.

Hope this helps, I know everyone's PC is a little different, this is what works for me. Reminder to set the Compatibility Properties, Privilege Level to Run this Program as Administrator (at least that's how I have mine set).

The game still crashes, unfortunately. However, using your method makes it last longer. Anyway, great trainer, just wish whatever is causing the crashing could be fixed. I'm wondering if it's Xcom, since my friend crashes without a trainer.
