This was originally meant to be a PM, but for some reason i get a Server Defender message when trying to message PWizard... Nonetheless it's content may be useful to those having problems with the trainer...
Hi PWizard,
Rather than get this lost in the thread as i've spent a couple of days testing this now, i thought I'd better contact you
Firstly thanks for your work on the CH trainers, even though you are on holiday.
I had been having issues getting the trainer to work, then i remembered something from the problems with the old Men of War Trainer; namely i was running the trainer, then the game via a desktop shortcut generated by steam. If i ran the game directly from the steam library and NOT via the desktop link it worked... So i tried this with XCOM...
Low and behold, running the trainer, then XCOM from the library, the trainer worked as intended....
I wander if many users experiencing problems are running the game from a desktop link?
As im not sure how you launch the game yourself i wanted to contact you to see if you can replicate the behavior?
It's also worth noting that running the game by right clicking on the Steam Icon in the taskbar and selecting XCOM from that has the same effect as running from the library, it appears that something to do with launching the app via a shortcut causes issues...
Hope this is of use to you.
I've tried it on a machine running Windows 7 X64 Ultimate, and another machine running windows 7 x32 Ultimate to eliminate it being a peculiarity of one system.
Question about the trainer - if you boost your stats on your guys, do they stick or do you have to do it every mission?
If you change the soldiers stats in the barracks they stick (just ensure that you save the game beforehand as the game has crashed a couple of times for me when messing around) Remember to save after you change soldier stats also. Nothing worse that loosing the new stats and maybe some progress if you didn't backup before the change.
If you change stats in the battlefield they do not stick so you will need to do it every time. (Remember to save!!!)
