I think the trainer devs are gunna have to update their trainers entirely... nothing seems to be working on windows 8 steam for me thus far. the game starts up trainer is activated but after about 20 seconds of game play it crashes and nothing is added to the game prior to the crash when commands are issued.
Are you running the game normally or do you have mods installed? Because while modding my game I did quickly notice that it won't run with the trainer and certain mods. Though don't ask me which mods, because honestly I have no clue. It just closes the game of it's own accord.
Is this happening with other trainers and games?
