I can verify the update corrected the Mechromancer's horrific weapons accuracy problem (if you upgraded her enough many of the challenges and a few missions became impossible. Also she could literally shoot herself) And I read on the forum (but have not yet confirmed ingame) that a new item, some type of crystal that appears to be currency, has been added.
Yeah I went through the updated files and it touches some other stuff whereas just correcting the save problem would likely only have required the game exe to be updated.
