on the far right side of your task bar there will be a small arrow, clicking this will show a small window of active programs(in windows xp this may be different but it is in the same general area). Your Avast AV should show up in this window, just right click it and place your cursor over the option "avast! shields control", 3 or 4 options should show up allowing you to disable the AV for different lengths of times, or determinately. to undo, just go through the process again and select the 'enable all shields' option.

    Link

    hope that helps.

Ahh brilliant that worked, I did actually try disabling the web shield and the p2p shield as well as the firewall and that didn't work but disabling all of them did so thank you very much. Oh and Chris, I did send Avast an e-mail but they don't respond when you send them false positive reports and there community forum was about as useful as herpes. Anyway once again, thank you for your help.

Cant really expect them to be helpful.

To them the work CH does can cause harm because of whats involved, memory editing etc.

Theres people out there that make trainers that inject code into the programs that can be harmful. basically AV companies think everyone that makes trainers do that unless proven otherwise.

CH thankfully is not one of the groups that practice such things.

but thats pretty much the jist of it.

In any case, i agree. AVAST sucks. i personally dont use an AV. why dont i? well been around long enough to know when something is fishy, and 2: i backup everything i consider important every now and then, so even if something does happen ill just reformat.

Plus i like keeping my system clutter free and not bogged down by things such as AV's.

Honestly, I would have agreed with you for some AV programs such as Norton and Mccaffe as they use up system resources like you wouldn't believe but Avast is the first AV program that I have found that really doesn't. Most of the time, I never even know it's running in the background because I put it in gaming mode. Anyway enough of the free advertising

    Re: PC Trainer Customizer

I can't get the key customizer to work.

    The top box is clear
    The middle box is "7"
    The bottom box is "undefined"

No matter what key I press, the boxes always return to "7" and "undefined". If I create a file after doing all defined keys, all the keys are "undefined".

Is there someone to communicate with to get some help solving this problem?

    Thanks, Ax

Actually Norton has come QUITEEEEEEEEE a long way in terms of resources and ability.

ever since the 08/09 version Norton has stopped being sucky and has once again become a good AV.

LOL, If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all.
Installed game last night and looks like they updated again, crashes w/ latest trainer.
Just have to wait a bit for the great Cheat Happens folks to update the trainer.

More coffee for the boys !!

Incorrect, there is no new update for the game. The latest Trainer and Editor still works for the latest version of the game on steam. I am using them with the steam version this very second.
