Best way to avoid this update crap is make a copy of borderlands2.exe as it is now, so in case people forgot to tell steam to not autoupdate, you still have the backup copy of the former patch then.
Mine's set to not auto-update (I double-checked), it didn't care much and still updated. I think you have to revoke Steam's online access for that to work.
can you check properties, details of borderlands2.exe, if its still 4706 then no worries.
Nope, I was messing around with the ini settings and frequently restarting the game, so I immediately noticed when he updated, since he refused to start before having downloaded the update. I checked during and right after the update process, and it was always set to "Don't auto-update". Executable version number says 4707 now.
crap and yup as soon as you click to play borderlands steam does anyway that update, bah what a crap system
yep i concurr getting "trainer can not find game" instead of the usual hacktivated vocals, now on version 4707

This new content system allows greater control over patches and such thus why they can release these hotfixes so quickly even if it's just a single issue, I do wish however that they would focus on the more serious problems the game has but I guess we'll see a larger more major update later on after these initial quick fixes dwindle down. (Though I guess we will see a number of these.)
I wonder if they can incorporate this brilliant modular method they used for the Left 4 Dead trainers, the one with the external data file where addresses and such was stored, and you only had to re-download that.
