whenever im in an instance or city i cant open the worldmap to fast travel. only when im outside it works. does anyone have the same problem or am i the only one?

In the manual, either if you bought retail or digital in a form of a .pdf, it explains while in an instance you can't fast travel, just like many other games, but if you are in town you can as long as no pre-scripted events are running while there.

I'm quite sure that you can fast-travel out of everything, as long as there are no enemies around.
Press the button to show the world map and fast travel from there.

I take it you're using a controller? If you are, and it says you should press A to find the Overworld map, press down the left stick instead.

For some reason the developers got that one wrong.
