I was merrily playing along, when some high level player suddenly invaded my Singleplayer experience in a weird attempt to grief me.

Since I was cheating I wasn't willing to go on with this (I'm against cheating in MP games), and had to continuously run away from him until he gave up.

And now I already see people on the Steam forum complaining of "hacking".

1) I was absolutely not aware that this SP game was mixed with MP and other people could just invade your game and start killing you left and right.

2) This doesn't bode well with the concept of fair cheating in SP only.

Is there anyway to prevent people from invading your game and turning this into a pure SP experience? so I could both enjoy it more and cheat to my liking?

Yeah me too.. was exploring and got invaded by a high lvl fella too.. i stood there n just let him hit me until he gave up n left.. lol

Its not technically an MP game, but people can leave hints to puzzles etc that appear as a ghost as such to either help or hinder other players.

There is an option to join up and deal with tough beasts etc.

Again, its not really fully MP.

I got this on the xbox and finished it twice. If the online system is the same you can either play in offline mode but you'll miss out a lot. A better way is to raise your level to the max. PvP and invading can only be done withing the same level range (10% or so). If you cheat to max level you will only be matched with other 'cheaters' and hopefully won't get any complains and be flagged.

So how do I prevent other players from interfering with my game?

To prevent others from invading your game you must stay hollow. The only way they can invade you is if you reverse hollowing at a bonfire and become human, you know, make your skin all nice and fresh. Stay ugly and disgusting= stay SP.

Well, after having been invaded again and this time, flamed on and on by some angry nerdraging guy, I've decided to cease playing until I can make sure I am playing pure SP.

As for Hollowed, I can't choose to reverse the reverse hollowing.
Plus, those merchants say I must be unhollowed to talk to them.

to play in offline mode use GFWL to play as offline, this will force the game into SP mode.
