I don't get it, why are there Region Locks on digital downloads?

What blows real hard is the fact it is the 24th in new zealand today but not in amercia

Couldnt tell yeh mate since New Zealand isnt the center of the universe(Unlike america)

Yep happens with every game release, we are one of the first countries to see the new day but all releases are based on american dates
