One of the best games I've played yet, I haven't finished it, I'm too scared to do that. I just wonder why it isn't very popular, every PS3 owner who enjoys a good RPG game must get it.

Ah, I have only played VC2 on the PSP, it was definitely in the top 5 best games for PSP in my opinion.
VC3 was never released outside Japan... a darned shame.
And here comes my sadness for not owning a PS3 again. *Sigh*

I played 2 on the PSP also, though while it was fun, I didn't think it was anything special. I never finished it, since I got bored half way through.
Still, I'd like to see more games like that. Turn-based style games are a dying breed.

2 was pretty fun, 1 was amazing, though. The watercolor art style was absolutely beautiful, and it was actually pretty clever to use the "Jews but not Jews" WWI/I storyline. Gameplay was damn good too - not many real-time/turn-based hybrids out there, especially not games that can pull it off with hardcore character permadeath.
I've admittedly never played VC1. At the time I got a PS3 for my birthday, but had no money myself to buy games. Genius, I know. I might pick it up pre-owned or something if it's cheap enough. I wouldn't pick it up full price though, based on VC2.
And before you say VC1 is better than VC2 and worth every penny, I can only go on my experience with VC2, because that's the only one I've actually played.
I also find it's hard to go backwards in a series... it's like playing the last game in a long series of games and loving it, then going back to play the first one. Sometimes it just doesn't work.
I enjoyed the anime though.

I agree, if you are an RPG fan and you have a PS3, you should own Valkyria Chronicles. (no exceptions)
Also Valkyria Chronicles 1 is much better than its PSP counterpart simply because there's more to the PS3 game and its much less grind-y. Also the story is more engaging imo. (but other than that...)
