Freelancer... now that was a great game. Totally deserved a sequel. Can you imagine Freelancer with today's style of open-world game?
If X3 had a baby with Freelancer...

"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2
Well, if the rumors about "The Truth" DLC are right, we'll find out soon enough.
I still say FTL is a viable alternative. They'll have to build ships with bigger fuel tanks, of course, and maybe put the crew into cryo/suspended animation for the duration of the journeys for the really long hauls, but it'd still work.
Most other sci-fi series utilize methods of travel which don't involve instantaneously jumping from one point in the galaxy to another and it works fine.
There's also the Quantum Entanglement communication set up for transmitting to the Normandy. That may still function, and could be re-routed or modified to contact other parts of the galaxy.
But, IF the relays were really destroyed, I have no doubts a suitable alternative would emerge sooner or later. Like I said earlier - the Protheans re-created a miniature relay, there's no reason we can't.

would it be safe to say that all the species using the Mass Relays would atleast have some research data on the Mass Relays accumulated over time they used the Relays? if that were to be...then an attempt could be made to somehow reconstruct them?

That's my train of thought.

It will be interesting to see how Bioware handles this and whether the fans will forgive and forget or maintain a continued enmity over the whole event.
Bioware did nothing wrong... I keep saying the ending made sense if you follow the story correctly.
Its obvious people are not happy as they wanted a super happy everyone lives happy ever after ending, which they did not get.
But then again, the mass majority of consumers these days are teens who expect things, unlike the consumers of the 90's who expected different things.
Its like chalk and cheese... just because people bought a game doesn't mean they should get an ending that pleases them... that is just dumb :P
It is also the same consumers that have killed decent gameplay also, people want eye-candy and they cry for it... which results in poor gameplay.... and eventually they cry about that also. They just don't know what they want. lol
