The way I did it. after killing the reaper convo, I went renegade(bottom right option), chose the Quarians over the Geth, Legion throws a fit, I got Blue paragon option, chose that. The fleet backs down b/c of my paragon choice. Legion dies, but the Geth become fully intelligent, and can now each decide its fate. They allow and help the Quarians to return to Rannoch and even help them adapt so they can stop using their suits in months instead of years.

you could be full paragon but if you didn't save Tali from exile in ME2 you don't get the choice as she isn't an admiral as she doesn't have the influence to stop the attack

This is true too.
I went with two paragon options. First told Legion to upload the data, where Shep tells Tali to call off the fleet, which she tries, then used paragon options to tell the Admiral he was being an idiot.

Yup thats the other way. Which I did not know, and would sacrifice the Geth any day to save Tali.

I knew there was a way to save them both and make peace between both races, so I picked the option which I felt would lead more directly to that conclusion... though it probably makes no difference which option you pick first, as long as you have enough Paragon/Renegade points for the next options.
