I've actually discussed this in my professional development courses. There have been studies that suggest if all other factors were equal (both candidates were equally qualified and such) the attractive person would get hired. I don't know if it is intentional or not, but I definitely would say that it exists in the business/corporate world.

Exactly... Lets assume all other area's are equal since looks don't determine your intellegences and education, I'd much rather have picked the attrctive one to represent my company then the less attractive one considering all other factors are equal.

But that would mean that the 'pretty person' has one factor (looks, obviously) over the 'less pretty person', which means they are no longer equal.

People will always take the best that they can get.

That's why I said all other factors being equal.

As drpepperfanatic said, if all other factors are equal, the prettier person gets the job. Honestly if I was in the position where I have to make that decision, I'll pick the prettier one too.

I'd say yes and no. It really depends on the interviewers (or whoever's giving out the job) I think. It's easy to say the best looking get the best jobs, but if you look a little closer, you can see seriously unattractive people in multi-million-pound jobs. Hell, Bill Gates isn't exactly the best looking guy on the planet, but he's the richest and most successful (or was).

Also, you still see good looking people working in Burger King and McDonalds. That alone say something.

... do you think it's true that those blessed with looks are more likely to have better jobs and a higher quality lifestyle than those who are not?

No that can't be true because i am really UGLY and i have won the LOTTERY i am 64 and have a few Dolly birds around my Penthouse, and doing all i need in life for me,its fantastic.

I am also as sick as a parrot because i have just woke up from this amazing dream, that felt like real life.
