When I first installed the game I used the dvd trainer, but the second time I let it install the update then the trainer started to crash the game when I hit F1 so I tried the origin trainer and it does not crash the game at the main menu when I hit F1. I still need to test it to make sure the game does not crash while running it, but so far it seems ok. I will post back when I have had a chance to test it.
Just an update, for any who have issues with not being able to add credits (there were a few of us) it only works for me if I press F10 first and only if there's no menus open (such as stores, character screens, etc). I know it comes after that whole section on selecting player/squadmates in the trainer notes and that's what made me think to try it, but I don't have to use F10 first for Fast Space Travel or Unlimited Fuel to work.
Also on my game using the "Unlimited Scans/Reset Alert" function works kinda sketchy. Scanning still raises Reaper alert, but once I've alerted them I can leave a solar system and immediately re-enter and they're gone. Sometimes when I re-enter the system the alert meter won't appear and the Reapers won't show up (even though the red arrows and their radar ping effects still do) and sometimes they will, but it still only requires that I leave that particular solar system and come back for them to be gone.
Still better than having to do a mission before they go away. So I can definately live with it the way it is. Just thought I'd share incase Cal wants to look into it.

Hi, I've tried all ways of getting the trainers to work but they don't. My edition is the DVD collectors edition. Does that interfere? I tried everything the troubleshooting says and both versions of the trainers but they both say "trainer cannot find game". Can u guys help?
Tried the dvd trainer and game crashed, went back to origin trainer and worked up to a point in the game until trainer starts blasting in my ear deactivated deactived and so forth that was forced to close both game and trainer.
Usually several reboots of the system sometime will fix it. Gets annoying.
Have limited myself to using Numpad 1,2,3,5,6,7,8
If tried to use any of the other options, game crashes...
You have something interfering with the trainer. Most likely AV, firewall or other security software. Also make sure you right click run as admin on trainer.
