I downloaded it on steam. Then when i went to play after starting a new game it gets stuck on the initial loading screen i left it for 30 minutes and there was nothing. I tried lowering the video settings but nothing happened. This is without the trainer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did Steam patch the game for you? The patch is like 200mb or so. If not, then close Steam and restart your computer. Also be sure to have all the newest drivers for your graphics card. Then you can also refer to this site for some advice: Link

Yes. Patching the game fixed the problem.
