    News Article: Link

    Short Summary:
-Gamers find themselves suddenly banned from Origin
-Gamers find out that they're banned because of forum violations on EA's site.
-Gamers also find out some of the bans were completely unjustified (e.g. someone else swears in a post but uses their name and apparently that counted somehow).
-Gamers attempt to appeal or ask for explanation
-EA responds "tough luck" and permanently bans (often without ability to appeal).

This is a pretty ugly slap in the face of customer rights. Sure bans on the forum is okay but to also deny access to Origin? Even worse there's a guy that reports that he was locked out of the EA games he bought on Steam. Some of those bans are extremely shady in that they shouldn't have been done in the first place (because the user did not commit any violations of their forum rules, but rather victims of misunderstanding). No one else to my knowledge has ever pulled stunts like this.

I really do hope that EA can pull their act together and reverse the decisions with their apologies. I do believe they were well in the wrong here. Some of those forum bans, yeah they're fair game, but denying game access purely on forum access is just completely wrong.

What do you think of this?
    Your bitterness, I will dispel

To me it seems like they're trying to lose more and more customers, again. Also the part about swearing is also active on BF3. If you swear on BF3 and get reported, your Origin and Battlelog accounts will be banned along with all BF3 stats wiped. At least that's what I've heard from other players.

It dosen't sound fair to me at all.Getting reported for swearing in the forums i can understand.Getting banned from Origin or for life and Not getting a warning at the very least or having the chance to appeal that decision i don't understand.

On the Cheat Happens web-site,if you get out of line on the forums, you get a warning.I think you get a couple of warnings before you get banned. That's fair.

I think EA has jumped on the Blizzard bandwagon as did Steam.
They are getting too big and are starting to make dogmatic rules and they don't care about their customer anymore.

Blizzard lost alot of customers after what they pulled and with TOR probably will lose even more.
EA has been pulling some stupid things already, but, they have a chance to save themselves.

Blizzard and EA just have to remember their fan-base and who gave them all their money and brought them to where they are.
If they keep ignoring their customers and fan-base they are going to end up losing in the end.

*gets blown up by own grenade*

    AH F!

    *banned*

Wait! I didn't mean like it that! PLEASE! NO! NOOOHOOOOOO!

    -

Sorry for the drama, but that's basically what happens, right?

I can imagine someone getting banned for swearing at other people, but I doubt that's the problem here because everyone knows you're not allowed to do that.

my guess about EA shaping up is when they release a game that is not buggier then a roach motel on release or when they actually release more then a beta patch (like with the saboteur).
Since there are people who give me crap for my grammar and is to lazy to check my profile I will say it here as well. I am dyslexic so give me a break as I *TRY* to spell correctly.

That wasn't EA's fault... as much as I hate to say it.

Pandemic studios developed that game and they went under the water as the game was released.

EA continually move against the consumer, taking more money for less quality.
They simply stink. I detest seeing their name against a game I want/ would like to play.

I am glad I limit all contact I have with EA games and I don't use Steam and I never will.

They've put me off pretty much all online interaction with games. Almost even put me off buying their games.

I think maybe they have the attitude of "who will take gamers complaints seriously" since it's just video games. But the issue is actually people's rights to fair treatment, and that strikes a chord with most people no matter if they like games or not.
