@Stevo4vr Well... I tried running out of the city of Whiterun but didn't take my trusty steed with me, but brought a follower. Got to the signpost outside town and clicked for fast travel... FAIL! Sigh... so just waiting a while and running out there does not seem to work... at least for me. I do have the "latest version" of the trainer too as of last night, uploaded 3/21. Hopefully a solution is found 'cause playing without the trainer is out of the question vis a vi the options it provides for shout, perks, health, magica, stamina, encumbrance etc... All the other features seem to work.
I am having a bit of a problem with handing stuff to my NPC followers as well. Since the update if I try to give them an enchanted object all the enchanted objects in my inventory grey out and the handoff fails. Dunno why. The Skyrim update has been a big PITA for me. I don't know if it even fixed anything or was designed to vex modders. Nah... that would be too cruel!
Here's another weird thing I noticed. My housecarl in Markarth, who I modded to be female, wandered off after the recent Skyrim update. Lately, since I was unable to fast travel anymore, I was running around on foot, and came upon someone standing around by the signpost outside of Whiterun. Sure enough, it was my Markarth Housecarl... just standing there! I said hello, she responed. I had a follower so naturally she said "you already have someone with you" when I asked her to follow me.
Now, I know Bethesda changed some of the navmesh stuff in this update for some reason, but really... my home in Markarth for a signpost on the road outside of Whiterun?
Some of my other NPC additions have also mysteriously disappeared as well. I haven't run into any of them yet, but given the position of my Markarth Housecarl, I would not be surprised if they were in the middle of the sea somewhere, forlornly standing there waiting to be called upon for some mission or quest... blowing bubbles, alone, in the cold and dark. It's creepy really.
Ok, I started the game without the Trainer and was able to fast travel as well as trade stuff with my followers, both of which I could not do if the Trainer was active. I have what I believe to be the latest version as of 2 days ago.
So here's the thing... I, like most people, have a bunch of different mods that load when the game starts. Could those mods be pushing the Trainer out of its memory location, or at least intruding into it once they load? Everything was fine with the last release of Skyrim and the Trainer, but this time around, they changed something and the Trainer, at least for me, seriously interferes with game play.
I post this here only in hope that it may be useful for you guys when you are trying to fix these vexing little problems.
OK... just did a little experiment and found this: If I put the Trainer in the Skyrim directory instead of it's own and run it from there, I am able to fast travel, which I could not do if the Trainer were in it's own directory, but NOT trade with my NPC follower, which is that same as before. And... strangely, she now went over to a grindstone and began sharpening a weapon which looked like a steel sword, which she does not have in her inventory! She then, despite my efforts to get her to follow me again, and her protestations that she "had my back" and so on, went to the smithing table and began banging on a piece of metal there not resembling a weapon. In other words, she seemed to take on the AI of the smith woman in Whiterun for the present, and would not follow me.
Without the Trainer, none of these behaviors is present, so it seems to be stepping on SOMETHING in memory when it is active.
Again... I am just trying to provide any information you might find helpful in perhaps tracking this error.
