I tried swapping the directory names of the (X86 TO X64 AND X64 TO X86). but the game wouldn't load.

that's what i did and the game ran fine...

is ANYONE having success with this? maybe we should just pull the trainer until they have a selection for 32bit vs 64bit.

regarding making 64bit trainer, i 'could' do this if the game was anywhere near 'normal' but this game is a frankenstein mess of various engines, script languages, and etc. i am afraid i don't have the willpower nor the patience to deal with 64 bit on that stuff. 32 bit will have to do-

    best,

Curious why you have people change dir names when the executable can just be launched directly without steam?

Trainer works fine here on Win7 X64 with game update 2 installed.

I didn't try renaming the folder I just created a shortcut to the exe from the x86 bin install directory.

The trainer works, it's the launcher that makes it buggy. If/when we see an x64 trainer (not saying we'd need to until they settle on a stable version) that will eliminate the launcher problem.

Right now I've got it to FULLY work (even though I have 64-bit Windows) and here's how I did it with some notes:

Go into your ...\Steam\steamapps\common\sword of the stars ii\bin and rename/switch the x64 directory name to something else then rename the x86 to x64. Now go into the directory you just named as x64 and make a desktop shortcut to sots2.exe (the "sots2" with the red icon if you hide your file extensions). That's necessary because launching from Steam or from the Steam-made shortcut doesn't work when you mess with game directories.

    PROBLEM SOLVED.

Now start up your trainer & let it authenticate. Then start the game from the shortcut you just made (clicking PLAY of course).

You can press F1 almost anytime now but since I don't want to take a chance I wait until I see stars & stats in an active game before I press F1. The trainer is stable, the game is not. Might as well get some money, press option 1 then go into Research & come out again and you should see several million dollars. No you can't do it again, so stop trying...go spend some first then bring yourself back up to that level if you have to.

The research option is pretty cool but the way it works versus how the game works means that it does something strange with the Feasability variable so that you get the message the next turn that you completed it but also a Feasability warning saying it's virtually impossible to ever achieve that tech. Relax, you still get to keep it. Don't use the trainer for Feasability studies though...

To use the research part, go into Research & select a tech if there isn't one being researched already. Again, not a Feasability Study for a tech, it has to display number of turns. Now go back to the star map and press option 2. If you hear "trainer cannot find game" from the trainer then pressing 2 again magically seems to work. You want to see that it worked before ending the turn? Fine...be that way. Click on Research button again and you'll see that it says progress is 100% and turns remaining are 0. But since the game only awards researched techs at the beginning of a turn, you won't get it until you End Turn.

I really hope that helps...and now you know what works and what doesn't work. That said, I look forward to Kerberos doing more fixing & patching...I'm not going to whine to Steam for a refund because I know this game can be awesome once it's fully put together.

After messing around with the renaming I finally got it to work, except for the research but I'm probably doing something wrong there.

Yeah I can understand about the mess of code and script. This game is far from finished and the devs said the code was messed up. I'm sure its not fun trying to work on. Thanks for your hard work though, its appreciated

EA is the anti-Midas touch company. Everything they touch turns to garbage.
