I just want to make a note here. THis game uses the DIESEL engine. Basically this is a script driven game and unfortunately games of this type are notoriously hard to make trainers for. We can't do MEGA trainer and people should not expect alot of options on games like this since creating a trainer for this is NOT made in the 'usual' way. The money option crashing 'sometimes' problem.. well i have no way to 'check' it, especially since it works 100% here on my game AND if it isn't crashing EVERY TIME and REPEATABLE for you with CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS on how to make it crash over and over then likely we cannot 'fix' a problem like you are describing. If you are adding money(XP) and you add too much, perhaps the game has a 'limit' of how high you can be and if you get past that then the game crashes or something.
This is the only explanation I have. The best place to use this option is in the FIRST MISSION before you enter the BANK. Press it a few times or whatever then enter the bank and note it increases. If you add too much or use it elsewhere then I have no guarantees about what might happen.
This is likely my last words on the subject. Please know we spent ALOT of time on this trainer to give you these essential options. It's not easy and certainly not like 95% of other games to work with titles like this- What you will see is that since our trainer has been out several days, now suddenly 'other trainers' will be available for it (by the same usual suspects). I can't be bothered any longer to check that they are ripping our techniques/work on this game....
best,
Cal

Adding to this, your method is the sole way that it works. Picking up money bundles does not trigger the add money cheat at all.
The only crash I had (apart from a video card issue that was bad drivers) that i can repeat is super armor/unlimited ammo and going out into the plaza crashes the game once I start killing cops and walking over the ammo.
The only place the add money cheat appears to work, as you said is the first mission when you enter the bank, all other objectives in that mission don't trigger it, instead giving normal XP amounts.
I just played a few minutes ago.
And used the XP(Money) option, and I held the Num3 button for... oh I don't know, about 10 seconds.
Then the drill busted through the first doorway, and BOOM! Went from level 1 to 6.
Then, when we arrived at the vault, I held the Num3 button for another 10 seconds, quickly grabbed one of the loose money bundles (not the big pile on the table) and BOOM! level 9.
So, I think I can safely say that it does work for me.
Same here. The add cash option works on the bundles of money in the vault. That's how I maxed my character from level70 or something to 144. Just kept pressing 3 and after a few seconds I would pick up some money, boom jumped a few levels. So I kept doing it and voila max level in no time.
