I agree, most games i have purchased on Origin DL at my 55mb cap and it actually tells me when it patches a game.

Origin! say no more. been playing Swtor a while now and origin are awful.

Origin is actually a better DLP than Steam sadly I have to say.

Just no. But that's an argument for another thread. This is about Origin, not Steam.

@Sarcastic_225: Steam tells you when it patches too, by the way. You'll always get a message saying "# items downloaded". Click on that and it'll take you straight to the games it has patched.

That only pops up when at the end of the download then goes away additionally it will remain in your downloads sub tab of the library for 4 hours then it disapears from there as well. I have been using steam since 2006 I am aware of this.

Also Servius's statement about Origins DLP (DownLoad Provider) being better is true for me in Kansas. I average three times the download speed then I do from any steam host.

What is important is that steam has some real competition so hopefully they will provide more awesome and less suck.

My downloads notification stays at the bottom until I click on them to check it out. The only time they disappear is if I close/restart Steam completely. It also says at the bottom "# item(s) downloading" along with the progress of the download. So using Steam since 2006 apparently doesn't mean much.

I think that goes for most things. Plus you get a notification above the system tray to say it's finished downloading.

It's typical really, I had a patch downloading earlier which I could have screenshotted (I have no idea if that's even an actual word, but I always use it).

Sorry but i don't agree. Origin are worst i have used. There CS is pathetic. Still i have my MA3 ready to play. Just hope Origin do a better job with this than swtor.

Origin more often than not freezes my entire PC when I start the program, and I do mean a complete freeze in which I can't even move my mouse, for about 5-6 seconds.

Origin has crashed for me twice ever since I installed it for the ME3Demo, and sometimes refuses to connect to the EA servers until I restart it about 2 times.

Then, when we get into the ME3 Demo, it sometimes just refuses to connect to the servers (again!) causing it to take like 2 minutes of "Please wait"... but then when I click Multiplayer everything works just fine.

Don't take me wrong, it doesn't do this every time. But this just goes to show the Origin is still in Beta and needs a lot of work... the in-game UI didn't impress me either.

Add that to the list of what everybody else already mentioned. I hate to say it, but at the moment Steam beats Origin in both functionality and dependability.
