No-CD Cracks in Purchased Games

Sounds a silly question, & probably one thats been asked many times in the past, but I'll nevertheless ask it again: Is it safe & legal to use the scene No-CD cracks for games that I already own? Especially since the newer games connect online to play or make checks... I don't want to end up having my legit game CD-keys banned on account of this. I find the No-CD cracks quite comfortable as I don't have to bother with the DVDs...

I'd like to know if anyone had any issues with their purchased games for using No-CDs. I'm especially worried about Mass Effect 3, as from what I hear, to do (a few) additional side-quests, we gotta play as 4 player co-op to finish it, & these quests affect the main game ending (think they are like the special companion missions in ME2, doing which gets you additional upgrades for your spaceship which influence the survival of companions in the endgame). Will having No-CD cracks cause any problems for my CD-Key when playing Co-OP? Are the exe's verified online or are only the CD-Keys verified?

As long as your game is legitimately purchased you should have no problems

Well you should know that many games come with different types of protections and not just DVD checks. So you can't use the term "No CD cracks" for all.

For example, all STEAM games don't require the game disc to be in the drive, you just need STEAM to run side-by-side to ensure you actually own the game. Any cracks used to bypass this is not exactly legal.

However if you use cracks for games like Mass Effect 2, which uses a simple DVD check, I would surely say there is nothing wrong about it. I will not say that it's exactly legal since the game developers will not take it well if you go on asking them about such stuff (Like I am using a No CD fix and the game is not working).

So what I want to conclude is that it's okay (Not legal) to use simple No CD cracks that just bypass DVD checks and not anything like Online Activation, etc. However many games nowadays do use Anti-Debug protections and some cracks are known to circumvent them. So we have to recommend these cracks to users who encounter protection related problems when they use trainers.

---------------------

Also I do not recommend you use cracks of any kind when playing online. There are chances for you to get banned on their servers. Always use the original executables when doing so. You can rename the original files for this.

And as far as Mass Effect 3 is concerned, I am pretty sure it will use Origin (EA's draconian DRM) which is not very convinient to end users if you ask me.

Ah, thanks for the input...

I forgot to mention though that I almost never buy games via steam. I prefer boxed versions with a nice manual & other goodies that come with it. But I didn't know it was inadvisable to play online with cracks though, even with legit CD-Keys. Best I wait for Mass Effect 3 to release to see the type of protection & the type of No-CD for it before I think of using crack to play it.

sometimes no cd fixes are a necessary evil.. dont know if anyone remembers the "fable lost chapters" fiasco? where the retail game was unplayable with the non-cracked exe no matter how much you tried different approaches it refused to launch until you got a cracked exe file.

i recall Mass Effect 3 requires origin to play, but as i know so far origin works the same way as steam... not needing a CD in the drive to play

Out of personal experience, I have found that games work better when you have the actual game. You could always run the game off of an iso if you don't want to have the disc in all the time, and I'm sure that would work fine.

Also, as for Origin, I really despise it. I got the BF3 demo, and I couldn't play it without running it through my browser. As goes for any other games I've attempted through Origin. I didn't download 3+GB to play in my browser...

I think that as long as it is a game that doesn't require you to login using the internet (Like StarCraft 2), then a cracked .exe should be fine to use. I use one for Battlefield 2, as well as Battlefront. As long as you use your legit CD Key, then their shouldn't be a problem. Thats just my opinion though.
