I am having an issue in the game where the game lags and cant keep up with the HD textures. I just wanted to know if any of you have encountered any issues regarding lag and how you corrected the issue ??

Note: I am using an ATI card and have already downloaded the Hotfix that ATI posted on their site, once I downloaded the file and installed the file i found it didn't fix anything at all.
    Cheers ALL :D

Depends on your card and how high the settings you set, I know there isn't much options for setting them in game, but whacking on x16 AA when your card won't handle it is usually not a good thing :P

And have you messed around with the config file?

Make a text file called rageconfig.cfg. Place that in the /base folder within your Rage install (whether STEAM or Retail).

Within that CFG file place these lines (you need to have 512MB - 2GB of VRAM on your viddy card)

    seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
    seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"
    seta image_preload "1"
    seta image_useCache "1"

Now, force v-sync in your nVidia or ATi control panel, and you're set.

Also, here's the switches I'm using via my shortcut (you can also place these in your STEAM version in the Launch Options area)

    +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +m_smooth 0 +fc_maxcachememoryMB 1024

To utilize the maxcachememory option, you'll likely need to create the folders /id software/rage inside of your users/username/appdata/local folder

I'll admit that I'm having bad lag now too. Yesterday, when I installed.. game worked fine for the most part, I'd get crashes of the game due to trainer.. and moving would make some graphics take a few seconds to load but there wasn't much actual lag.

Now, installing an update for the game for my AMD HD 5570 has the graphics looking beautiful but it's so laggy that I can't actually play any more and so now I'm trying to find a fix for /that/. How can I change my settings? I'd lower them in a heartbeat if I knew how, or I'd do things to the config to fix it if I knew how to do that too.

The Graphics card that I am currently using is a ATI Raedeon HD 5770. I also have 8GB RAM in my PC. Old processor Core 2 Duo

I might just end up waiitng for a Patch its starting to get a little frustrating to play with all these issues.
    Cheers ALL :D

What's your OS? I use Win 7 32-bit, and only have 3 gigs ram with my 512 mb HD 5570 vid card and I use the Intel Core 2 Duo myself, 3.16 GHz.

I' also having what I call"Clipping" issues in the graphics. It doesn't cause lag but occasionally locks up the game and you have to restart from a previous save.
I'm running a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series Graphic card, Intel Core I7 CPU with 8 gigs of ram on windows 7.

It's been locking up on me a lot too... sine there's no autosave and the quicksave isn't exactly fast on my PC, it's getting pretty annoying...
