    There is a guide to changign the FOV over on teh steam forums:

    There have been people claiming to have a FOV fix that involves hex editing some *.dll files which is a big no-no for VAC, which can result in you being banned, there is a much easier way to edit the CameraDefaultFOV cvar located in Data0.pak/Data/Skills/default_levels.xml
    To do so, simply extract the file, locate your Dead Island folder in your user's documents folder, where your audio and video settings are already saved, and create a "Data" folder, a "Skills" subfolder, and place the default_levels.xml in the skills sub folder. Open the file, edit away.
    Screenshots:
    90 degree FOV: i.imgur.com/ZG9pe.jpg
    62.5 (default) FOV: i.imgur.com/w8H3e.jpg

    To be clear, your DeadIsland folder should have this structure:
    DeadIsland
    ->out
    ->->data
    ->->->skills
    ->->->->default_levels.xml
    ->->logs
    ->->settings

    The file that you extract has many other useful things like inventory size, stamina, health, weapon dmg etc. Looks very interesting

    Ive looked at the other pack files that you can extract files from, theres someother interestign stuff, like skills for the characters, it mayb be possible to alter the skill trees, like maybe give the ramming abiltiy to the other characters

    Ive managed to edit my skill for logan, higher chance of finding better loot, no durabiltiy loss, no stamina loss, higher chance of retrieving thwon weapons. Theres lots of stuff to do. You can even increase the chance certain items will drop in certain areas

    How do you increase the chance to retrieve the throwing weapons? I have the skills and everything unpacked, but I dont know what to edit.

    I think I figured it out, it does not change the tooltip in game though right? Thanks for the small FAQ. Small but spot on great!

    I also confirmed you are able to add other characters skills to any character. I added the Health Regen to Logan.

    Did you guys unrar the .pak it and just edit the text file; or did you guys also put it back into the .pak?
    Since I cant start my game anymore.

    Edit: Yeah, I don't know what to edit I guess, since all it does is break my game.

    Edit2: It breaks still even if i reset the values back to the original.

    Anyone here that happened to find a way to turn off knockdowns on your character?

    Use 7-zip to unpack the pak files. Once that is done just edit the files inside with notepad. Make sure you put the edited files in the Documents/deadisland/out/settings/data. If you do not have a data folder in there create one. As for the knockdown immunity, if there is a skill in game that lowers the chance then you could add it to your characters skill and increase the % to 100. That would make you immune to KD.

    So, do I just paste purna_skills into the newly created Data folder (note: Mine isn't in Document folder, it's in the Dead Island Directory)?

    Edit: Yes, it does work.
