Dead Island Discussion
I have to admit, I was initially a bit... Well, I had to wonder why someone would ask so much about this game being similar to Fallout 3/NV and thought you might be one of "those" guys (you know the type), but then you used that... That word! Quandary really isn't used enough, is it? I also realized that a lot of previews compared this game to Fallout, so I'm probably just too assuming.
But, to try to address a few of the concerns I've seen in your posts on this forum: I'm not sure if there's a wacky gun like the Alien Blaster, though I think there is a sort of shock gun/mod, but I'm not terribly far into the game. It doesn't seem to crash much for me personally regardless of whether I have the trainer on or not, but several people have had issues with the game itself. There's been two patches so far, though the first was more because the publisher released a developer build to Steam on accident
The game's less reliant on character stats and more reliant on each weapon's stats, though skills do factor into a lot of things. There's no real dialogue though - but thankfully it avoids the Fallout pitfall of unmarked quests - every quest in the game is neatly marked and tracked, and jeez are there a lot of them.
I bought a copy of the game for a friend who is dividing his time between this game and New Vegas (just got back from Iraq so he's catching up on games, heh) and he's really enjoying it, and even told me it seemed like a more action oriented melee-centric Fallout.
Hope that helps
