I don't think this game was meant to be another mass effect or DAO.(not that that is a bad thing.) Plus, his whole quest was to find megan HIS GIRLFRIEND.(I.E."love interest"
Also it really only fits the game if there is a place for it. Deus Ex dose not really have a place for it. There for no Adam is not a losser with the ladies.
This sex stuff in games is getting to be annoying now. OK yeah its fun but. Gees its like all the zombie stuff for pretty much nearly every game. Heck am amazed theres not a space zombie mod for a game. But I side track from topic.
No Adam is not a losser rumpy pumpy is not for this game plain and simple.
Thought I'd point out to OP (sorry if it's been mentioned, my eyes are a little screwy) that:
Spoiler:
Stating Jensen's pilot (Malik, by the way) gets killed is a spoiler for those who haven't played it yet, and also you can save her by killing/knocking out all of the soldiers and the mech (yes, it's possible, even without the trainer).
I think games like ME have spoiled gamers a little with romance options. They're a large part of both games (if you chose to follow the quest lines) and they fit in so well with both the game and the setting that some expect them to be in every game.

Ah... but then he DOES discover Megan is alive, and she runs off with her scientists in the "chopper" (which is, of course, not a chopper), without so much as a fare thee well! Nice chick! No wonder things went south with their relationship.
That aside, Adam still has a brain, it is his, and humans will eventually want some kind of close contact with another person if they are sane. What you are saying is that Adam is NOT sane and never will be, and I don't think that is a credible assessment. But hey... I'm just some guy. I know he just came back from a major physical challenge and a botched love affair, but he could at least ADMIRE the form of other women or crave their company even on a more "platonic" level it would seem (Though what do we really know about Pluto and his attitude towards women). Granted, not all games require some sexual, or even pseudo-sexual content... But a "character study" of such depth as this in a role playing/shooter seems to me to nudge us in that direction for a complete understanding of his psyche. The moody/broody thing gets a little old and robs him of some connection to the real people who play the game. Just my opinion. After all, in the Dragon Age games, Mass Effect series, etc., the "Hero/s" all go through some pretty remarkable circumstances and still manage to find some affection in their lives. Love is hope expressed!
Don't get me wrong... I like the game and am about to finish my third play-through, I just wondered what others thought of this aspect of the game though, and I guess I found out.

Ah I kinda was trying to do them but it went boom before I did them all. I still feel that the broody side dose it in this game. And matches the atmosphere.
Yeah, you gotta be kinda quick, especially when the mech lands. Took me a couple of tries on Pacifist but it's definitely possible. Just think of the layout of enemies like a spiral. That way you take most of them from the side or behind, and since they're concentrated on the chopper you'll surprise most of them.

Megan Reed didn't put any augmentations into Adam at all, she was kidnapped at the time of his surgery and thought to be dead by the rest of the world.
Anyways, if I were Adam? I'd rather date Malik. Malik's a great woman, spunky, beautiful, and that leather suit she wears is tight and /hot/. She obviously doesn't mind augmentations either given her profession and that she's got discreet flying augmentation enhancements.
Adam isn't a loser either, if he wanted a woman he could definitely get one in a flash. The C.A.S.I.E. augmentation would probably be invaluable in getting some.
