I have been looking at the different options for getting The Sims 3 on my Macbook Pro and I have a question that I figured I would bring here.
From the looks of it, none of the legitimate game downloading sites (e.g. Origins, D2D, etc.) have The Sims 3 base game available as a digital download.
I know that in the past when I have bought The Sims 2 games, I would download the base game, then all the expansion packs. After the expansion packs were all downloaded, from then on the game would use the first downloaded expansion pack to launch.
Now I'm not sure if the case remains with The Sims 3, but I think it would be beneficial to buy the base game, download it, then buy an expansion pack via digital download and just use that to launch the game so I would not always have to use the discs.
So I suppose my question in short is: Can I buy a disc of the base game, buy a digital download of the expansion packs, and use the expansion packs to launch the game?
Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks
You can get from there, seems to be the cheapest in the UK at the moment, so check at gamersgate it may redirect you to a local version.
Think is the US link

@DABhand- I know that some digital download sites also ship hard copies, are you sure this isn't the case here?
But as a bonus, you also get the PC version too, so you are getting both for the price of 1.
