The topic has kinda died off, but anyone else notice the striking similarity between Hengsha and FFVII's Midgar?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Remember the good old days when you could just slap Omni-Gel on everything?" - Shepard, ME2
"Not right now. Trying to determine how Scale Itch got aboard. Sexually transmitted disease carried only by Varren..... Implications unpleasant." - Mordin, ME2
I kinda noticed it, China and Japan have a thing about floating cities, I think they wrote literature about that kind of thing. You see it in anime too.
I found something small but it was an easter egg that I liked.
Anyone remember the movie Hackers with Angelina Jolie?
Well, the main character was a famous hacker in the movie and he was once known as zer0cool. In one of the emails from a computer you'll hack (I believe it was in Detroit, later in the game) you find an email from something like zer0cool@hacktheplanet.com
Actually the e-mail was from zer0cool@planet.hack, so you were close. Hackers is one of my favorite movies of all time. (Even tho the hacking in that movie was/is nothing at all like real hacking.)
Dade Murphy, aka Crash Override, aka Zero Cool crashed 1507 computers in one day. As a child (11). Something I'm sure mister "Nucl3arsnake" could not have accomplished on his best day as an adult. Anyways, "Hack the Planet" was the name of the show in the movie run by hackers Razor and Blade.
Awesome movie, anyone who hasn't seen it should... *makes a mental note to see if it's out on Blu-Ray yet*

Yeah, I've seen the movie several times, last time I watched it was about six months ago. LOVE the movie. Not going to bother with any of the sequels I heard about as they probably have completely different people.
In another topic, someone mentioned Hangar 18 being a song by Megadeth. There's a steam achievement named Hangar 18 for hacking a computer in a hangar after some scientists escape. After you open the ceiling and they leave, instead of going right as the compass tells you, go left through /those/ doors and move the box to your left. There will be a tiny crawlspace that will let you slip through and you can hack the computer to read a private email. Or, just use the easy access part of the trainer and type in anything for a password. In the email are apparently lyrics for the song Hangar 18 and the log in name is MSTAINE, and it's emails between Dave 1 and Dave 2. The songs lyrics were apparently based on UFO conspiracy theories and it was written by a member of the band named Dave Mustaine.
Dave Mustain IS Megadeth ^^ Founder, leadsinger, lead-guitarist and only all-time member of the band.

Another easteregg is very close to the end. There is a very white room, where you find
Spoiler:
Megan Reed
and there is an old gramophone. When you use it, it plays the DX1 main title in an very old, vinyl-sounding, crackling tone.
Building on that, the entire "Sarif" theme that plays when you're in the SI HQ, most notably when you're walking into his office for the first time, is actually a subtle remaking/remix of the UNATCO theme. Link
And the first door code being 0451 just made me laugh like an idiot.
Im glad you mention that, in the highland park FEMA facality there is a type of control room on the second floor not far from where the elevator stops and that big robot patrols, lol anyways that control room is an exact replica of the control room in MGS, in MGS rex is directly facing it, maybe its just me though.
