Because of how the Unlimited Life option is set up when the Easy Kills option is also activated, I keep dying.
i tested this over and over. i cannot get anything to kill me while these two options are on simultaneously. so i cannot 'fix' this since i cannot replicate it. i do not have this problem-

Strange, I downloaded the trainer again, just to be sure, and still with Easy Kills on, by itself or with an combination of options, I die when hit, immediately, only the companion seems unafected and receives normal damage from an attack.
Given that the game isn't out in the UK until next Friday (17th), I thought I'd try the trainer with the Steam demo. Epic Fail ! When you press F1 at the menu and then start a new game, it all crashes with a "No Longer Responding" error. The demo runs fine if you don't activate the trainer though...... Guess I'll just have to wait for the full game.
The demo was updated recently (Though the exe differences would likely have meant it wouldn't work or crash the game even so as usual I imagine.), I guess there will similarly be a day-1 patch for the full game upon release smoothing out a few bugs and inconsistencies.
