At 'night' the mafia make their kills (by discussing via PM and telling the storyteller) and during the 'day' the storyteller announces who was killed, but nothing on the killers themselves. The villagers can then decide on who they think is the mafia and have them killed, after which the storyteller tells them whether it was a mafia or not. During the day rounds the private detective can tell everyone else who the mafia is but anyone can lie and pretend to be the detective.

And so it goes on until either the mafia are killed or until all the villagers are killed off. It usually has some sort of theme, so it can be RP-ish, and in between votes and rounds when nothing is really happening everyone can go around their business.

Now, I've played this game in drama and online, and it's been good fun. I was wondering if there's enough people who want to play, and if there are (about 7 people could do it) then maybe we can have a game (with a sign-up topic with a proper explanation of the rules). I'll have each round set up so everyone can play, no matter what timezone.

Now, I don't expect that a lot of people will be hopping up and down at the idea but still, anyone like the idea?

Actually, we play this game in my drama class all the time, helped us develop acting skills while we lied our socks off, and I played on some forums so I figured 'hey, why not?' XD

I have played a similar one in my drama class too.. It was just with a werewolf instead :P

Yeah, there are a few variations, and different names, but I think Mafia is the most common name :3
