But as the caller said there is more than one verse in the bible where Jesus made an OBVIOUS DISTINCTION between him and god. How do you explain that? Also how do you explain a bunsh of Jews killing a god? or a part of a god.. Again I ask looking for answers not standing or being with any side. I'm really curious.

In the video, the caller doesn't specify where that "obvious distinction" comes from, he just kind of says something and Richard the glasses guy who doesn't know what he's talking about just goes along with it. However, I'm not going to fall into the trap of debating logic in a faith based religion, there are a lot of fail-safes inherent in faith based religions that prevent logical debate. If you really want the answers to those questions then try hitting up the Wikipedia articles I linked to earlier, they'll probably give you a better answer than I can.

If the nature of the divine were simple, then we would have worked this stuff out long ago. We all have fundamental preconceptions about it, and fight against an understanding that differs from our own because we all 'know' that we have the 'truth', so anything else is patently false. These preconceptions colour the way we interpret our holy books, twisting all points of understanding to support our individual world view.
As Latiosmaster47 has said, there are better places to research this than a gaming site. Google Christ Islam and check out some of the varied sites.
My opinion? Jesus said a bunch of things indicating His claim to deity. Just because I don't have the capacity to understand how God works, doesn't mean I have to doubt that it works. If I could comprehend deity, surely I would be equal to it.

Which I most definitely am not.

Religion has been twisted by those in power to suit their own needs for as long as it has existed. I'm no fan of religion, I'll freely admit that, but I do believe that religion once served a purpose and, also once long ago, was a force for the better.

Now it's just used as yet another argument for wars and killing, if only by a small minority. As far as I see it, modern religion is no more than the argument of who's right and who's wrong, and that includes Atheists and Agnostics.

If I ever see a leader of every religion sit down as equals and talk to each other as human beings in my lifetime... hell, even I'll start going to church.

That's just my two cents. Feel free to ignore it, or argue with it, but I won't respond. I've been avoiding this thread because I've gotten into too many of these discussions and they've all gone south and descended into a flame war, every one. I felt like I should add my part to it though, and I somehow doubt this one will follow the same path as the others. But, having said my piece, I bid you adieu.

Personally, I just think religion causes more trouble than it's worth. I'm not going to go outright and say that there is no God. It's a faith. FAITH. You don't need logic.

But I think that if you have a religion, cool, now just don't go bugging others about it. It just makes people upset and more than a few fights. It's ridiculous. Everyone should just chill and get on with their lives. If they believe in their own faith, then they need to respect others who believe in a different faith, or don't believe in any at all.
Heck, my own father is Muslim and he doesn't try to force me to become Muslim too or something, and I don't try to convince him to drop his religion and go all scientific.

And this whole 'My religion is better than yours' cra*? Stupid. Just stupid. And biased. Obviously.

As Latios said, most people who believe do so out of faith rather then logic, though I think putting it like that seems kind of harsh. It makes believers sound illogical.

But yes, most people believe solely because it makes them comfortable, for the most part, doing what makes one comfortable is human nature.

For the record, I am an Atheist.

I haven't read the whole thread (OP not the rest), but lemme make one thing clear. I don't mind being Catholic, because although we're a form of Christian, we're not insane. A little strict at times (which I don't follow...) but the Catholic church will never run around screaming END OF THE WORLD RUN! lol
