Yeah I can't believe you can die in retarded QTE sequences and dialogue options, otherwise this difficulty would be choice for me.

I died 2 days ago in a camp where I was supposed to sneak through, but I got discovered and suddenly a cut scene appeared and Geralt got insta-killed from an arrow. These cut scenes are pretty damn cheap so I'm also waiting for some way to restore my save or that scroll that the devs have been talking about.

The game cheated and I'll just cheat back and we can call it even. Then I can get to finish the game on Insane since the actual fighting isn't such a problem. Seeing into the future and knowing where you may possibly die by a random cut scenes on the other hand, is quite the challenge.

Game cheated ? Nah but I suspect you've been told that elsewhere (e.g. GOG maybe even gamefaqs/spot).
Although complaints about a game cheating on a game cheats site does have a big fat dollop of irony attached to it, I have one issue with this and that is the technique cdp must be using to achieve the instapermadeath. Types who have died and wanted to come back to life have pointed out that not only does it not allow secreted elsewhere savegames to be loaded to ressurect, even uninstalling and re-installing the game does not work!

That begs the question, how is this happening? If it isn't thru the registry which I woulda thought woulda been hacked by now if it was, does cdp have witcher 2 reaching parts of out puta that we are not able to reach?
If the answer is yes I have to say I no likee, no matter how great the game is (which it is).
The notion of a piece of software I have bought and paid for pulling the same sort of stunts that got sony in more pooh than a sewer duck is worrisome. If CDP can do that, when the game has been pushed with boasts that some editions are DRM free what else can be stuffed into our little putas?
Hopefully someone will find a registry entry somewhere I'd give it a burl cept I'm runnin on 64bit os and the only application I own that can trace every little change to registry, files, and system files only works on 32 bit windoze OS.

I haven't played on insane myself personally (I'm playing through my first go on hard, then I'll try insane) but it could be a registry thing, in the hex of the save file, or it could be some kind of hash/encryption or the like on the save file.

someone already said it was in the registry somewhere they posted the spot. Is a key that changes every save and changes if you die. No idea how you would go about cracking that code or knowing what to change it to to make yourself come back to life.

Im sure someone who knows what they are looking at could crack it and fix death saves. The demand probably isnt high enough for crackers to take the time to do it though.

Argh! I've had several goes now, and there's no way I can do this. Can't even get past the prologue. My last attempt, I ran too far ahead when the dragon attacked the ramparts and got fried! I took very little damage in the fights, but it's these instant death things I can't stand! I have heard about people who have managed to do it, but they also describe how they have died 13 times in the prologue and in other areas. I think maybe the best way would be to practice each section over and over again on hard, and progress your insane game save gradually.

That's not something I plan on doing. I think for now I'll stick with Hard, and just try to die a lot less. I think instead of just 1 life, start with 3 lives - special enchantments or whatever that hold off your death, and get given another maybe every 10 levels. This game has so many instant death spots, especially in the early stages, that it should be a little more forgiving for it to be an enjoyable challenge.

Dont have the time or Interest to do the Insane mode. But what i would like to see, is a Player Auto AI, which when you toggle it on, would play your character like a Movie until you toggle it off. So you could go all the way to the spot you died then toggle on to get by, or finish the complete game that way. So when the Devs decide to give us Quick Death with no Saves, we can fight back!!! I know a lot of people will POO-POO this idea, but it makes as much sense as putting Quick Death with no save in a game.
