I think I may have found the problem. If you are using a multi-user vista/windows7 system, you have to tell the trainer to run in administrator mode, otherwise it does not function correctly.
I am curious if anyone from Australia has had any success in having the trainers work (either GOG or Steam or Retail). I believe they have modified the game slightly for Australia/New Zealand and would appreciate if anyone could advise before I purchase the game.
The Aussie version differs only in that two conversations are removed where you can take sex as a reward. By default Geralt will decline. Otherwise, it's the same as other English language versions. There is a player-made addon that returns the choices in those conversations, but I haven't tried it.
Also, my Australian retail version with manual 1.1 patch works fine with the GOG trainer.
If you own the AUS Retail version, but not the US version, this is what you can do:
1. Install the game 2. Do the update by downloading the patch from the offical site, the US version patch should named "Patcher_ATARI" 3. Install the US patch 4. Enjoy the game with CH Trainer!!
Apologies, further to my previous post, I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled again using both of the patches from their (The Witcher) website and now the trainer appears to be working for the retail version with the GoG trainer.
Thanks for such a great trainer
