That is why I always go for intel+nvidia configs in my comps... most games are compatible with them, not that ATI isn't good or anything (just to avoid any flames) but over the years I see more nvidia compatible games than ATI along with the starting "nvidia the way its meant to be played logo thingy...) maybe it's that nvidia pays more money to game companies I dunno...
I only owned (back in 2003) one ATI card in my life and although I don't question the quality, I hated the driver support.
Agreed. This 5870 I own, will be the first and last ATI card. The card itself is excellent, it plays most games perfectly, but the drivers, and driver support are awful, or to be more specific, the QA Testing on the drivers is awful. I remember having to revert to 10.8 drivers until 10.12 because they broke sleep.
Fortunately I've not noticed any major issues with games, but I have friends with dual gpu cards (like the 4870x2 and the 5970) that find every wrong under the sun.
It's a shame really because if ATI sorted their drivers out, they would easily knock Nvidia out of the market. Nvidia know this, hence the premium between an ATI and Nvidia card.
From what I've heard nVidia also offers better support to developers while they're making the game itself, which lends itself to better relations with game studios.
Yeeah but it did not prevent that the game refuses to launch in full screen with a GTX 580 SLI... It works well in windowed mode but refuses to lauch in full screen... So I will wait for a patch to correct that. before playing the game. EPIC FAIL...
Check it's allowed through your firewall. If it is, I suggest going to bed and trying again in the morning. If it's a server-side problem then the servers will probably be tied up for a couple of days before traffic and activity starts to die down. If it's on the game end, well, you'll have to wait for some kind of fix from CD Projekt Red.

Please try running the game in windowed mode (set Fullscreen to Disabled in the Configurator) and/or lowering the details (especially turning UberSamping off). Also make sure that your video drivers are up to date and that you have the latest windows updates.
I hope this helped and that you can enjoy the game now. Should your problems continue, feel free to contact us again.
I know this isn't the place for this, but I've never been more disappointed in a game I had so looked forward to. The introduction runs slow and sluggish, and the I waited five minutes for the game to start, but it didn't. I've checked all possible information in the read me file and here. I don't have a high end machine, but it's a good one and meets all recommendations for the game. I will give it one more try using Centclip's advise.
The game simply stops responding after I click on "new game".

I installed the latest Nvidia beta driver, rebooted my computer, and the game is running fine now. I let the game choose my settings, which are strangely low.
