Also, those aliens look a lot like Slender Man. I think the writers have been watching Marble Hornets.

*Probably the doctor doesn't die and the only way he can break the paradox is by having everyone think he is dead and that he has to be set on fire (regeneration cycle starts again)? *The doctor saved everyone and he has nothing left to do? :P
I enjoyed the episode a lot, although the first 10 minutes did drag on a bit. I think the silence are probably some of the most original monsters Moffetts created possibly more so than the weeping angels. I very much liked the cliffhanger too, it's just a shame they have to ruin it with the previews they show straight after...

I think The Silence are definitely on a par with the Weeping Angels. I was only about 13 when they first featured in Blink and they scared the hell out of me.
I was a bit lost at the beginning, but then after he was killed I thought 'oh, so that how it happens' because some IDIOT told me a week beforehand that the Doctor died in the first episode.
I got a bit confused, which is a good thing. I can tell it's good writing if it's so complex that I can't quite understand it on the first time of watching.
There's supposedly some rumour that David Tennannt is coming back...but I'm guessing it's just my DT-mad friend getting excitable.

My girlfriend was crying for the most part of the beginning. She's pretty new to the series, so the whole "The show has been on for too long, he probably isn't really dead" thing hasn't kicked in.
But yea, after watching the premiere, I was pretty perplexed about why it didn't have any aliens in it. Odd.
