Actually, most sources believe it's fake. I'm pretty sure it was found on DeviantArt.

Right. some other pics had been released on some sites, but it was confirmed that they were fake.

It's fake.

It lacks the eagle-shaped hood of Altair, Ezio and Desmond. Not only that, but the stance is wrong for what they usually go with. Ordinarily they show the assassin from the front, his face partially hidden by shadows.

I'm guessing it's a fan-made image, probably from stock or something. I wish people would check sources before getting my hopes up with threads like this...
