What version of trainer will work with the free ME 2 Bioware is giving to Dragon AGe 2 owners?

Go to the Mass Effect 2 Configuration utility and select the category "Game". There you should have the information about the version. You're interested only in the MassEffect2.exe version.
It should be 1.2 if Bioware is giving them for free and I think 1.2 was the newest version.

The download is version 1.02, but whenever I activate the trainer the game just crashes instantly after hearing "Activated". Looking into it more now but so far I've been unable to use it for the free download.

The game although 1.02 has a different executable, with more lax protections.

Just used the Steam/D2D version and it activates without any problems, will update if I have any issues.

I assumed that was the version you tried :P But good to know its working.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or it's just this free version I got from EA as a DA2 owner, but the free Demo Trainer isn't working as far as I can tell. I don't get the crash mentioned previously, and it does say "Activated" when I press F1. Problem is, when I press NUMPAD 7, I hear something being said (Activated again?) but the credits don't go up. Am I doing something wrong?

The demo trainer isn't going to work for it as it was written for an unpatched version of the game. The trainer you would need would be the Steam/D2D 1.02 trainer version found here
