Video card drivers in all likelihood, yep. Clean install them (properly fresh install, not just uninstall and install using the Catalyst suite).
Nope it is not the drivers i have the latest drivers instaled for My ati 5970card 11.2 to be precise and i have win7. I had the same problem with the first game with another computer and that dident help then either. I found a solution on the forum for that game and then it worked, and now i have EXACTLY the same problem but with a better computer and i can for f**ks sake play crysis 2 without problem. And it is a clean instalation of the drivers.

11.3 are the latest drivers released 2 days ago.
Did you try to reinstall the game? And does the fix which worked on Shift work on Shift 2?
unfortanly i cannot remember what i did on shift and i have not been able to find the info, have downloaded the 11.3 version from amd(sorry my bad) and i will try and instal that after dinner(living in sweden its night here), i will give an update afterwards.
it worked with the new driver for my card.
does anyone know why the game slowsdown to almost a crawl when there is many card and a rich envoiroment detail. slows down the fps that is.
