I got an idea, I'll tape it with Fraps and upload it to youtube so that you can see thats exactly what I'm doing.
I'm not trying to prove anything, it's just that it seems really weird that I keep failing at the last 15-20 men while I destroyed everyting there is to destroy.

I'm sure they did, and I'm sure the installation of the game is the problem, right? I'm also sure that Installshield loves putting a tiny installation error in so that I cant pass a certain mission, just barely, right?

take down the siege towers

I did that too, it's not something I would overlook. xD

Look, I'm serious here, I destroyed the siege tower first, then I aimed to the left a bit (with the W,A,S,D keys) destroyed all the cannons there, taking out 3 with 1 shot.

then my cannon blows up and I have to sprint to the other cannon.

so, I destroy all the cannons on the left side (on the small ridge) and then I turn my focus to the siege tower, and I take it down.

At this moment it should be pretty much over, right?
I'm not trolling here, I swear...

Well, I always get desynchronized at 15 citizens... several times in a row even.

Right, while recording I made it... 9 tries and I get it right while recording, wtf?

You're probably thinking I'm stupid right now, but believe me, nobody here is more surprised than me.

I had 1 diamond (Hp) left, and I did exactly the same thing as before... not a single difference, seriously.

Ah well, here's hoping my savegame doesnt corrupt, because I am never doing this mission again in my lifetime. 😵

i remember that evil quest well. 3 attempts on the PS3 to no avail when suddenly 4th go i nail 3 cannons and a bunch of guards and it works. idea is meant to be to kill what is killing townies to help escape. prob is they don't often say where the threat is so you have to kinda guess and pray. keep aggro on you and you tend to win it
