I think that the point of people comparing this to DA:O being a flawed comparison is a very good point. This isn't really even a sequel to Origins. It's just a game that takes place in the same world and essentially has similar lore.

That being said, I actually like it better than Dragon Age: Origins. It is graphically way superior. I thought the people in DA:O looked really silly and foolish (especially Arl Howe, who didn't look ANYTHING AT ALL like a human to me, haha). Dragon Age 2 is a lot flashier.

The gameplay is sooooo much more fun. One of my only problems with Origins was the failure of the gameplay, especially so early on. It felt like I was playing a dumbed down version of runescape. This game's gameplay is essentially the same, I believe, but the key is that they SPED IT UP to make it look so much more flashier. Just watching my warrior leap 5 feet and strike down 5 darkspawn with one swipe of his double-handed sword makes this game so much more enjoyable than the first.

The only thing I think is lacking in this game when compared to Origins is the storyline, and even then, from what I've seen so far, the storyline seems really good. Origins was great because the story took all of these amazing twists and turns that you couldn't have expected. On top of that, your entire game's storyline could literally change based on what class, race, or gender you selected, which I thought was a really sick feature. For example, I picked a human noble my first way through. Arl Howe kills my family? I go to King Cailin and he promises me vengeance? But then, holycrapomfgwowbbq, King Cailan dead by ANOTHER twist?!?! The storyline in Origins was so much more complex and therefore captivating than the storyline (so far) in DA2.

But other than that, I feel this game is soooo much more enjoyable than Origins. Which is hard for me to say, because I freaking loved Origins and played through it I think 6 separate times.

I think that Skyrim is going to have A LOT to compete with in DA2. I think DA2 is WAY better than DAO, but the storyline is relatively worse than DAO. And when you think about it, isn't that generally the best part about Bioware RPG games? The storylines?

I think you are wrong. But that is me. Story in this one sucks. (I played another 2 hours of DA2. Graphic as I said are missing that umph that DAO had. I loved the graphics in DAO.

But now You are trying to compare Elder scrolls game to DA2? lol that is nuts. But each to there own. I think DA2 has changed abit to much for me. To say it is better than DAO

I could not agree more, you wrote verbatim what was on my mind. I do enjoy the game, and it can be fun to play, but also, I find i like to take breaks after 2 hours or so, when I played DAO I played sometimes for 6 hours straight. It's a bit of a downer... Hopefully the mods will Improve things, as well as some DLC's but I'm not holding my breath. Here's to waiting for the witcher 2 in may, and ME3 this holidays.

Now Witcher 2 defo pre ordering it closer to date and cant wait to see what ME3 will look like tho.

I guess to each his own, eh? I thought the graphics in DAO were pretty awful, actually. They were very cartooney looking. The one thing that I WILL say is that hurlocks and genlocks look REALLY RETARDED in DA2, lol. Seriously, wtf is up with those stupid japanese hats they hurlocks sometimes wear? lmfao.

For the record straight, I wasn't comparing dragon age with elder scrolls. I was just saying that in my personal opinion, Skyrim will have a lot to beat if it wants to be called the best fantasy rpg of this year.

Well my words to DA2 graphics is they are going cartooney. DAO to me is more real plus dark which suits the story line.

    Also.

Pretty much Elder scrolls has been one of the leading single player or in my books the top single player game out there. DA2 dose not even get close to it at all. DA2 has jumped off a cliff with this change.

Now as much as I said I would have loved to continue on as me Grey warden. This story could have been extremely better if they took the time! A single player RPG is supposed to be LONG, the story is suppossed to drag you out of your real life and into the character you play. But again rush cause of the consoles! This is why I say PC games should have never gone on consoles. This console fandango is going to bring PC games to nothing. But moving onward.

Now to your statement of your warrior leaping 5 feet in the air. To me in this game that is just stupid! If I want that al play FF. But Truth fully am more likely to burn FF the most drawn out over done game ever.

I like the game but it just doesn't "feel" like a Dragon Age: Origins sequel. Too much has changed. Kind of like Mass Effect in Dragon Age clothing maybe? I don't know. I like the graphics and the dialogue wheel. I don't like not being able to outfit my party like I could in DA:O. Feels like they took a lot of control away from the player but, I'm still enjoying the game, it just feels like a new game rather than a sequel.

like shinderhizzle84 says this isnt a "sequel" to dao its just exactly as he says a diff story line of someone in the same world just a lil further in the future of dao thats all its not supposed to follow what happend to you in dao and what not but it still has some history of the origins

So,just wondering your thoughts on this game so far...
Waiting to get mine when iam paid.Tomorrow or friday.

It's a rush job. Worth a rental but not the purchase tbh.

Combat is fun if it was an action game. Story is awful.

Don't even worry if you lost your Dragon Age 1 saves because so far, after importing a perfect DAO save I discovered that Bioware managed a miracle. They managed to make the Dragon Age franchise's import function have even LESS of an impact than importing in the Mass Effect franchise and that's saying something.

There's also some laughable difficulty scaling issues. A sign of lack of polish. And I don't mean hey it's too hard on nightmare. I mean like, on the same difficulty level.

And you have random problems like casting Blood Magic in front of Templars not even eliciting a response. lol? They managed to at least script this into Baldur's Gate 2 but they couldn't in Dragon Age the spiritual succe-hahahaha.

Or times when Templars would burst into a room after you fought like a random spawn (don't even get me started on the random spawns) of like 20 mages and they'll be like "WE CAME TO ARREST THE MAGES" and there are more dead mages than living ones. Or guards with the audacity to say "Hey man quiet night" after you just killed like 50 bandits in front of them so the room looks like a slaughterhouse.
