I got a copy of the game files (in a folder) and i downloaded a crack for it. I don't know if these files were Steam versions or what... I got the files from a friend and I wanted to test the game out to see if I really wanted to go out and get it.
Is thier a INI file or some way to see what version I have? Worse comes to worse I can just download both versions of the trainer and see what one works, I just figured I would ask if thier was a way to find out from the files...(agreed, it is a small amout of time to find this out manually, just figured I would ask first) 🤔

Pretty sure piracy is illegal no matter how you got it, unless you own a legit copy of the game, if you want to "try" the game out, legitly buy the game, or borrow it from your friend.
You didn't download a nearly 10 gig game from your friend lol, we're really not that stupid. Your best bet is to go buy the game, or try both trainers out yourself.
