What does cheat happens mean by "no-cd" on Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC Message Board - Page 1

Regarding the Mega Trainer (Patch #7 STEAM), Super Health, Super Ammo, No Reload....

I was wondering what cheat happens means when they say they cant make a trainer for a game because there isn't a no-cd version yet? I understand that games are expensive and you have to buy the game if you want to make a trainer for it, I'm just trying to understand what the limitations are. The reason I'm asking is because I have the retail version of this game, but I bought it through the EA store as a downloadable game, and I don't need a cd in order to play the game, since I never had one in the first place, is that a no-cd version that were talked about in the passed boards? Would that version of the game work for a trainer to be made?

If your game runs with out a cd/dvd then there is no need for a no cd/dvd fix

I'm not asking for a no cd fix, I'm referring to the other posts that say that they have to wait for a no cd version of the game in order to make a trainer for the newest patches for the retail version.

I have read that post, and I'm very thankful for the hard work Cheathappens puts into these trainers, hence my happy and complaint free first post, I was just asking what they meant by having to wait for a no-cd fix for the retail version because I HAVE the retail version, and it doesn't require me to have a CD to play since I downloaded it from EA, so isn't that the "no-cd" thing he was talking about? I was just trying to understand more about this "no-cd" thing mentioned in previous posts, I'm not requesting a new trainer.

I know what you're asking. even though you have the EADM version of the game, it still uses the same .EXE file that the copy installed from the disk uses. this means that the securom is the reason why they wont make a trainer for the retail version. The steam version was released without the Securom program.

A No-CD patch enables you to run the game without a CD.
