I may be one of the guys who doesn't know about it or this maybe news to many of us, if not all.
Did you know that Windows 7 snapshots your screen every third second? And it stores those images in a hidden folder "ProgramData" in the drive where Windows was installed. Here, the images are located in a folder which is of your Windows Login Username.
Creepy, huh? I really don't know if Microsoft is monitoring our computer activity or is it just doing it for reference purpose. I just figured this out right now so please explain if you know what exactly this "Feature" is and what does it do.

Life is best for those who enjoy it, difficult for those who analyze it and worst for those who criticize it.

it feels creepy because its personal. what u have or don't have on ur desktop is ur business and whats stopping microsoft or someone associated with/through them gaining access to ur desktop via OS updates etc. or perhaps someone...someday decides to hack into microsoft and get to know everything there is to know about u.

Source citation is requested (where did you get this information)?. I just did a mass search on my ProgramData folder and no pictures of my desktop/webcam were found. Sounds to me like a hoax.
You can manually navigate to the folder via: C:\ProgramData
If you can access it from a Linux Distribution, it does not exist (and there was no folder with my username).
