Ok, so I was thinking back to last year where during orchestra rehearsals, two boys would have these intense fights over the 'colour' black.

One of them said that black is a colour (or technically, a tone) while the other said that black absorbs light, and therefore, it's not a colour (or tone) but instead, an absence of light/colour.

    Thoughts?

    Black Absorbs all colors
Red Absorbs all colors except red
    white deflects all colors

why whouldnt black be a color?
where is stated that a color should reflect anything at all?
black is the color that absorbs all
the outsider of the bunch , just like white.
just because hes a little bit different from the others , isnt a reason to exclude him at all.

Black is the absents of all colors. Represented in computer science by the color with the value of 0,0,0

White is the combination of all colors at an even distribution. Represented in computer science by the color with the value 255,255,255

Both white and black are colors.

Black is the absence of light. It is not a colour, even in the art realm it isn't counted as a colour (nor is white).

Science and art both agree that it is not a colour.

Black isn't colour although I suppose you could argue white is.

Colour is just a variation of frequencies in wavelengths of light and black is the absence of anything, light or otherwise, so therefore can't be classed as colour.

Black is color that is considered harsh, evil etc. Red represents blood, the life force of all living creatures, green represents nature and all of its beauty, also fertility.
