Why would they translate this game and do such an awful job of it? Half of the conversations don't really make sense due to bad translations, the game is so poorly optimized that it could be running at peak performance one moment and then drop in FPS like a brick the next.
I had this weird graphical glitch that kept making the game flash, and I have a decent PC that should be able to run these graphics without a single issue. The game gives you little to no instructions on what to do, like how to fly the ship for example, and you have to manually go into the options menu to find out.
I had this other weird problem where the gun would jerk up and down very quickly as I moved.
I might have been able to put up with most of that if it wasn't for the absolutely insane framerate issues. Normal FPS in this game for me is 60fps, but there are many times when I would look just a little to my left or right and the FPS would instantly drop down to 20fps for no discernible reason.
This could just be a problem with me, but I would not suggest this game to anyone. It's like they paid someone $20 to translate the entire game through Google Translator and released it as is.
Well the translation for the game was done by 1 guy.

GamersGate grab the translation pack, bundled it up with the nodvd patch and released it as a full game.
A lot of the audio was dropped completely, they didn't even keep any of the Russian city chatter, so it sounds like a dead world. Also the sound drops in and out at random, one minute you can hear you gun, then next dead silence.
Its a shame really, the game in itself it actually quiet good, grand idea with a very low budget. Could of competed with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Probably because it costs money to translate the game, hire voice actors to do the roles, and then it costs more money to find a publisher and have it published.
Considering the size of the developer and the prospective audience - and the reception of the game - they made a wise choice in not even bothering with the rest of the world.
Ya my company is in the middle of two mid-sized projects. One software and one game. Both are localized in English only. We don't have the time or resources to spend on proper translations, so we're not even going to try.
